2/28/19 - Congratulations to the Lady Lions for their 5th consecutive GHSA State Tournament appearance!!!

STATE TOURNAMENT: 1979, 1982, 1997 (Sweet 16), 2003 (Elite 8), 2013 (Sweet 16), 2015, 2016, 2017 (Sweet 16), 2018 (Sweet 16), 2019, 2020 (Sweet 16), 2021

Welcome to the Lady Lions Basketball team page. We are very proud of our accomplishments over the last decade. Since the 2011-12 season, we have reached new levels of success at LSHS. We have been to 8 state tournaments (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), reached the Sweet 16 4 times (2013, 2017, 2018, 2020), played for 3 Region Championships, and won the AAAAA Region 6 Title in 2018. We have had several young ladies go on to play college ball and many others chose to pass on the opportunity to play ball at the next level in order to focus on academics.

As for the state of the program, we won 20 games in 2012-13 including a sub region title and a victory in the 1st round of the GHSA state tournament. We qualified for state again in 2014-15, falling 9 points short of winning the region championship. The 2015-16 team became the 1st back to back state tournament qualifier in school history with a 45-40 victory over county rival New Manchester in the region tournament quarter finals. The 2016-17 team overcame an array of mid-season injuries to reach the region title game before falling short to 7th ranked Maynard Jackson. The 16-17 squad went on to defeat Loganville in the 1st round of state before losing to 9th ranked Eagle's Landing in the sweet 16. In a "rebuilding" year, the young 2017-18 Lions ran off one of the best seasons in recent history winning 18 games, the region championship, and advancing to the Sweet 16 before losing to the state championship runner-up girls of Flowery Branch.  2018-19 brought it's share of challenges as the team faced many obstacles in the form of injury and illness.  The Lady Lions gathered themselves and managed to win 15 games and finish 2nd in the regular season region standings and earn an automatic berth to state, our 5th in a row.  In state, the girls fought hard but fell to undefeated Villa Rica on the road in the 1st round.  The 2019-20 season was filled with many highlights and challenges.  Led by Wake Forest commit Demeara Hinds, the Lady Lions won 19 games and qualified for state for the 6th straight year.  An exciting 1st round road win at Loganville (43-42) led to a heart breaking loss at home to Jones County (60-55) in the Sweet 16.  The 20-21 season was unlike anything we have ever seen.  COVID-19 created a huge challenge to overcome just so we could play basketball.  Through it all, the girls managed to claw their way to a 4th place region finish in the regular season and get back to the GHSA tournament where we fell to 5th ranked Hiram.  GREAT JOB LADY LIONS!!!!

Our program is grounded in the fundamentals of the game and doing the right thing off the court. Academics and behavior are monitored year round by Coach Mills. The expectation of all girls is to do their best in the classroom, in the halls, and on the court! We don't believe in settling for less than our best. Our program is a challenging place to play as we will test your ability to become the best young lady and best player you can be in our short time together.
