Lithia Springs High School
Volume 2 Issue 5
A Message from Principal Joshua
I trust that you are enjoying the beginning of this festive season and experiencing an abundance of peace and prosperity. The first semester has come to a close and we are awaiting the results of the End of Course (EOC) exams. As a reminder, EOCs count for 20% of the final grade in Algebra I, Biology, US History, and American Literature. Final grades for the semester will be posted in the Parent and Student Portal on January 5, 2022. If your student has a final grade between 60-69 in any core content class, be sure to pay attention to the Course Extension information located in this newsletter.
Over the last several weeks, my staff and I have been preparing for the DCSS reaccreditation process through the Cognia agency. The accreditation preparation process began last May and we will culminate our review with a virtual visit during the month of March. Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED, is the accrediting agency for K-12 schools. Douglas County goes through the accreditation process every five years. Lithia Springs High School has thoroughly reviewed and offered input on all of the Cognia standards such a data review processes, teacher differentiation for students, and how we track longitudinal data, just to name a few. If you would like more information about the Cognia review process please contact me by phone or email.
Please visit the LSHS website to familiarize yourself with our School Improvement Plan. In short, it is our goal to increase student achievement, decrease student discipline, and increase student attendance. It is my hope that you will continue to partner with us in achieving these goals.
In closing, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Respectfully,
Principal Joshua
