ASVAB Testing (Media Center)

On March 27, twelve juniors and seniors of LSHS participated in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, a crucial assessment for those considering a future in the military or exploring career pathways. Organized by one of our counselors, Mrs. Andrea Thompson-Adebesin, the ASVAB helps students identify their strengths and interests, providing valuable insights into potential career options.

The test, which consists of multiple-choice questions in areas such as math, science, and verbal skills, not only serves as a military entrance exam, but also offers students a chance to discover civilian career opportunities. Many participants expressed excitement about the experience. “I’m interested in the military, but I also want to see what other careers I might be suited for,” said stated one senior.

Assistant Principal Chandra Peyton emphasized the importance of the ASVAB in helping students make informed decisions about their futures. “This test opens doors,” said Ms. Peyton. “Whether students choose to enlist, pursue college, or enter the workforce, understanding their abilities is key.”

Results from the test will be shared with students in the coming weeks, providing them with a roadmap for their next steps. With the ASVAB now complete, students look forward to exploring new opportunities and planning for their futures.
