Meet Naomi Wood
LSHS student, Naomi Wood (11th grade) turned a simple class project into a widespread community service initiative. The project, named Nay Nay's Ouch Pouches, creates and donates first-aid kits to those in need, with over 400 kits already distributed.
The idea for the project began while Naomi was making first-aid kits for a HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) event. The original goal was to create just 100 kits, but after people started donating supplies, the project quickly grew. "It got me thinking about everyone else who might need first-aid kits," Naomi said.
Each "ouch pouch" is carefully packed with essential items, including bandages, alcohol prep pads, antibacterial creams, and gauze. These kits are then donated to local organizations that serve the community, such as The Pantry in Douglasville, GIFT Church, and Likewise Ministries.
The project operates entirely on donations. Naomi does not accept any money, but instead relies on donated supplies to continue the work.
Naomi wants to connect with new community groups who could use the free first-aid kits. In addition, she is looking for more donations to keep the project going. You can find a link to the Amazon wish list on the project's flyer above. The QR code on the flyer will send you to the list or to Naomi's facebook page with information on donating to Nay Nay's Ouch Pouches. Way to go Naomi!
