Friday, February. 6, 2026, the atmosphere inside the "Lion’s Den" will be about more than just the scoreboard. As the Lady Lions prepare to face off against New Manchester, the program will pause to honor a player who didn't just play the game—she redefined it.
Lithia Springs High School is proud to announce the formal jersey retirement of Demeara Hinds (Class of 2020), a powerhouse center whose four-year reign transformed the Lady Lions into a regional force.
The "1,000/1,000" Standard
Demeara Hinds leaves behind a statistical legacy that may never be matched. She stands alone as the only player in LSHS history to join the 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound club. While her scoring kept the Lions ahead, her defensive dominance defined the team's identity.
All-Time Rebound Leader: 1,094 rebounds
All-Time Shot Block Leader: 245 blocks
Double-Double Machine: 42 career double-doubles in 106 games
Defining Moments
Hinds was at her best when the lights were brightest. Whether it was her monstrous 25-point, 22-rebound performance against Banneker in 2020, or her 18-point, 19-rebound masterclass that secured the 2018 Region Championship, she was a winner.
Perhaps her most inspiring feat came during her senior year playoff run. Leading a young squad with three freshman starters, Hinds willed the Lady Lions to a 43–42 upset over Loganville, proving that her leadership was just as impactful as her athleticism.
From the Den to the ACC
Demeara’s journey didn’t end in Douglas County. Her excellence on the court and in the classroom (graduating the LSHS STEM program with a 3.6 GPA) paved the way to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). After five seasons at Wake Forest University, she is currently closing out her final collegiate chapter at Clemson University.
Celebrating a LSHS Legend
A three-time Team MVP and the 2019-20 Region Player of the Year, Demeara embodied the "Lady Lion" spirit: tough, selfless, and relentless.
"Demeara set the standard," says AD Mikey Jones." She showed every girl who puts on that jersey that with hard work and discipline, you can go from our gym to the biggest stages in college basketball."
The retirement ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the varsity girl's games. We invite all alumni, fans, and community members to join us as we honor No. 25 as one of our Lithia Springs Legends.
