Ms. Crews and Ms. Polk teamed up for an engaging cross-curricular Social Studies and Literacy Day in the LSHS Media Center, bringing our 9th and 12th-grade Lions together for a buddy-system learning experience!
Our 9th graders received an orientation to the Lions Media Center and learned about the many resources available to support their academic success. Our 12th-grade students stepped into leadership roles, assisting the 9th graders with locating and selecting a book of their choice and helping them learn how to use the various activities and resources available in the Makerspace.
Students checked out books and ended the experience exploring, creating, and having fun in the Makerspace. It was a great example of literacy, leadership, collaboration, and peer-to-peer learning in action!
At LSHS, our Lions don’t just learn together—they lead, support, and grow together!

CATCH THE ENERGY: HOPE Club Kickoff!
The energy in the LSHS Media Center was incredible as HOPE (Hispanic Organization Promoting Education) kicked off its FIRST club meeting with more than 80 energetic students!
Students were fully engaged, having fun, building relationships, and making meaningful face-to-face connections without electronic devices. It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to simply be present, connect, and enjoy the moment together.
A huge kudos to Señora Haynes and Señor Cortes for an amazing kickoff! We can’t wait to see what’s next for HOPE!

Healthy Hearts Program: Life Skills
Healthy Choices. Healthy Decisions. Healthy Future.
Get ready for an empowering day of learning, connection, and fun! The Healthy Hearts Program: Life Skills is coming to Seven Springs on September 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Students will hear from special guest speakers on Cybersecurity & Information and Financial Literacy, gaining practical skills to make safe, smart, and responsible decisions for their future.
The event will also feature lunch provided by Chick-fil-A, FREE haircuts by Troy’s Barbershop, contests, and prizes!

About The Gates Scholarship
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.
Selected Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance to earn a bachelor’s degree, that is not already covered by other financial aid and the Student Aid Index, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university. Costs covered include tuition, fees, books, housing and food, and may include additional personal costs.
TGS also provides Scholars with various online support services designed to help them excel in their degree programs, graduate, and make a successful transition to their chosen careers. These include career services, mentoring, leadership development, wellness, and knowledge building.
Eligibility requirements
To apply, students must be:
- A high school senior
- Pell-eligible
- A US citizen or permanent resident
- In a good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.
An ideal candidate will also have:
- An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)
- Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)
- Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)
- Application deadline: Phase I of the application opened Wednesday, July 15, with a submission deadline of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 2:00 PM PT.

Miranda spent all four years at Lithia Springs High School and graduated in 2024. She went on to attend Point University on a soccer scholarship, where she continued to excel both on and off the field.
